Does birth control make you gain weight?

I'm going in birth control in a few days and someone told me it makes you gain when you fi.rst go on it. I just lost 30 pounds and i'm worried i'm gonna gain it all back again just from going on the pill. Is there anything to do to stop this weight gain if it even does happen? Plese help me
