As crazy as it sounds, I want to get closer with a 16 year old but I'm 30?

We are in no position to judge, i mean look at Mary K. LeTourneu she and her student have been together forever and even had kids. And claim to be in love still. However from a maturity standpoint i know you think he is so mature and a young adult but the bottom line is think back to when you were 16 and think of you now. There was a lot of growing and life lessons learned between 16 and 30 and you know it. He will be going through all of that and by the time hes 30 and your 44 he may not still see you as the hot older woman he roomed with at 18, he will see you as an old lady, not trying to be rude but its true. So do think about that before making your move. It could be true love for a few years and then real life will step in. At 30 he may want another 30 yr old not a woman who's half way to 50.
