Yes, but thankfully if reported soon enough you can put on all sorts of therapy to ensure that things like HIV and hepatitis don't set in. Nothing is 100%, but it's surely a help. Working in the health care field, that's a big comfort. Just remember, the sooner you report it, the sooner you get help and have a better shot of not getting sick.
